Options

Hey there readers. I've been away for these past few weeks, but things at the College have been busy as ever! This semester for my classes, I'm taking care of some programs to finally finish up the semester by adding in some extra skills. Project Management, my class which focuses specifically on working on Portfolio work, has been taking up my time for the most part. The class has been pretty demanding, as I need to update things for it on a weekly basis.

At this point though, needing to take care of work for college is the usual routine as well as needing to make sure that we get things in on time, staying diligent with our work. Being the last semester though at the college, it's really become relevant to me that this semester is going to be the last stretch. I've been doing a lot of thinking in what I'm going to be doing with my future and making a lot of decisions recently too that I'm still in the process of dealing with. So that's why in today's blog post, I'm mainly pointing out that even while you're attending the college, always keep in mind what you're going to be doing with your future. It's easy to say that you're going to become a graphic designer, or a game designer, or an animator, but sometimes it's always a good idea to make sure that you know all of your options before you start approaching the last stretch, that way you'll always have a plan.

Start of the Last Semester

Hey there guys! Last semester I wasn't able to give a final blog post due to some issues that I ran into, but I'm finally back and ready to get going with my final semester here at the College.

Before anything though, I want to say something important, since this is something that became a big issue with me that I've been learning to fix lately. Always make sure that you've got copies of your work when it comes to Digital Media projects. Data can get corrupted easily, and trust me, that's the last thing that you want to end up running into, especially when the file of your finished projects is the one that's broken.

With that being said, there’s a lot that I’ve got to take care of this semester and a lot of complications going on in life but, I’ve got things that I need to start working toward!  The Digital Media club is going to be starting up again, better than ever, and there's plenty of new classes that I'm about to start learning. Schedules are different. I'm in Game Design 2 right now while I focus on Web Design, work outside of school, and a whole ton of other things that I've got to get started on.

I'll keep you guys updated though. I'm also in a portfolio class this semester to help me work on my portfolio, so I'm finally going to start posting things up in my blog that I think is good enough to show off to you guys!

Hope you had a great winter vacation though. Keep on learning and pushing through to success!

Pre-Finals Week

Hey guys. It’s been awhile since I've last posted with everything that's been coming together as of late these past few weeks, a lot of work between Digital Media Club, school work, and other things going on in my life. It's been more than busy, probably one of the busiest weeks of my life. Thankfully though, I've had friends helping me out with things here and there. It's really something that I think is good to keep in mind, but knowing how to work together with your friends, and helping each other to learn things that you might not already know is REALLY helpful when it comes to college. The classes are good, but people aren't always going to be able to tackle everything at once, and sometimes it's just better to be able to try and go about these kinds of things with teamwork, rather than trying to tackle it solo.

Not that I'm saying to not be original with your work or anything. It's always important to make sure that the work that you produce is from you. BUT, that doesn't mean that you can't get advice and assistance.

Other than that, I'm mostly just working on the stuff that I've been mentioning this entire semester. I know that I've been lacking in getting to show you guys some of the cool stuff that I've been designing, so if I have everything ready by the time it comes to my last blog entry, I'm going to show you guys the website that I'm working on for my portfolio page, and let you guys take a look at the kind of work we do in the school.

Either way, that's all for now. The days have been pretty mellow as of late, with all the clouds moving in for the coming of winter. Make sure to stay warm and see you next week!

One week after Sandy

Well, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that's been having a rough week after Hurricane Sandy. It's been a pretty big deal trying to catch up with all of the work that I couldn't get done since I had no internet, and just getting back into the routine of things was a big struggle. Honestly, if the school didn't handle things the way they did, I think I'd still probably be delayed, so I'm pretty thankful that they were so understanding when it came to the aftermath of things.

Other than that though, there's not much for me to report on this week. I've been spending a lot of time walking since last week, and after seeing how things have been, I'm just going to take this blog and say to everyone that I hope that you're all doing well, and that you have a good weekend. Hopefully next week, I'll be able to start showing some progress on that Mural that I mentioned awhile back too!

My First Client

Hey there readers! Guess who just got himself a client~

I've mentioned it quite a few times in past blogs, but this time I've finally created a deal with a business owner. Over the course of the next two weeks, my focus is about to direct itself almost completely to designing this website(can't forget about my other subjects after all). If anything, this has probably been one of the best things that's happened this week specifically, mostly because of the mere fact that this means that I can finally start getting my name out into the working world.

Originally when I came to this College, my main focus was going to be
in Game Design. Frankly, I still plan to try and keep up with my studies in Game Design as well. The thing about Game Design is that when it comes to making a name for yourself, you have to start working your way through gaming companies. The thing about the Digital Media world is that like the internet, there are many different uses for the skills that you take away from this school. The fact that I'm learning so many different programs here, I don't see any reason for me to try managing both Game Design and Web Design at the same time. While working in Game Design to further myself toward bigger goals and positions, Web Design can still serve as my back bone, allowing to support myself financially all the way through.

Now that I've got my first client, that means if I do a good job for him, then I'll have a trustworthy reference that can suggest my name to all sorts of clients, whether it be for the sake of others that are interested in web sites, or even future employers that might just want to see the kind of creative influence and effort that I put into my work.

I'll be sure to give you guys a link when I'm finally done with my results! Everyone in our field is capable of accomplishing things that might seem impossible before going into the field, so long as we make sure to put a decent amount of effort and research into it, no matter what program it involves, or anything that you do in general.

Either way, that's all for now. Next week's another week with plenty of stuff to get done (
including what may be a Digital Media Club related Halloween offer. We'll see). Have a good weekend!
